| TREE-NESTED TALLAHASSEE NO MORE |
Is this gorgeous city, where humans blended with nature, losing its balance? An ill golf-landscaping mentality is doing away with city pockets of wild life, destroying forests and replacing them with lethal artificially-looking turf where no wild life is allowed to thrive.
|
This is what some people considered "beautiful": they might as well replace all the grass with artificial football stadium turf. Thousands of small defenseless creatures lose their habitat to the whim of prissy landscapers and developers.
|
For months now, motorists driving on East Capital Circle have been witnessing the pathetic, repeated sight of wild creatures killed on the road, smashed to a bloody pulp of little bones and fragile little legs ÷ opossums, armadillos, squirrels, raccoons. For months, every day I felt sick to my stomach witnessing these desperate animal fleeing away from a relentless destructions of their habitats, finding nothing but manicured grass and offer no protection.
It is appalling the destruction of forests west on Capital Circle, in front of the Capital Circle Office Center or CCOC (who dreams up these Freudian acronyms?). This center is just another lifeless pocket of cute landscape with trimmed trees feeling lonesome looking down on parking lots conquered by human driving on four wheel killing cages. How many animals sacrificed because instead of following a Tallahassee tradition of living in, around and in harmony with nature, they razed animals and habitats into oblivion.
The relentless destructions of Nature will have devastating consequences not only to the beauty of a fantastic city, but to the climate of the region. Those who are puzzled by the climatic unbalance elsewhere will in the future ask the same question in Tallahassee for not being capable of reasoning out the consequences. The encroaching monster of a bleeding earth ÷ how red it is ÷ is moving toward Orange where one of the most beautiful regions in Tallahassee awaits for concerned citizens to react before it is too late. |
