SOUTH FLORIDA TOLLS ARE SQUEEZING EVERY PENNY OUT OF SOUTH FLORIDANS.
A friend from Tallahassee visited me last week. I take my hosting graces seriously, so I gave him the usual tour through South Florida. I had told him already about Sawgrass Mill and how large that factory outlet was. He wanted to see it, so we took SR 75 North from Hialeah. We haven't seen each other for one year, so we talked, and talked and it was too late to go north at the road fork and kept on West SR 75! Toll $2.50. Not only that, after the toll booth, one had to drive and drive for miles and miles before, he can turn around.
I wanted to show him a ride on the metrorail ($1.50) and he was aghast when he learned that the parking was $4! There were no instructions before we went in. Taking the train at Dadeland is a mystery and a puzzle put together.
Going downtown, another toll (I was living in Miami when the toll was just 10¢ and everybody cackled that it was going to be a temporary measure. Now it is 1.50.
He was wandering. From Orlando up, they have great roads with NO TOLL! What it is them. Are we paying their tolls and roads? Wouldn't be it Highway Robbery of the sneakiest kind?
And they keep on going, and going, building new tolls, selling new passes. Soon they will be no free street in South Florida
